Department of Orthodontics    

The professors and residents of Department of Orthodontics strive for the treatment and research in order to assist all patients who are considering the orthodontic treatment.
In 1971, the department of orthodontics was established by the professor Kim Il-Bong for the first time in private universities, and has treated numerous orthodontic patients for 32 years.
The members of Department of Orthodontics put the utmost effort to promote physical, mental and social health of individual by preventing dental related diseases as well as enhancing the aesthetics and function of the oro-facial area by performing high quality orthodontic treatment.


Department of Oral Medicine

Department of Oral Medicine is a specialized dentistry area that treats various diseases generated in mouth, face and jaw through internal medical treatment. The oral, facial and jawbone diseases that require internal medical treatment include temporomandibular disease, facial pain, trigeminal neuralgia, oral mucosal disease, dry mouth, disturbance of taste, bad breath, oro-motor dysfunction, snoring and sleep apnea syndrome.
Because many of these diseases may be caused by holistic reasons, it is permissible to say that Oral Medicine is situated in between the full body and mouth. The other functions of the Department of Oral Medicine are to provide diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases for the dental patients with systematic disease, and the legal application of the dentistry.
The dentist who is equipped with specialized treatment ability for the above diseases is called Oral Physician.


Department of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery    

Department of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery is a specialized area within the dental hospital that provides surgical diagnosis and treatment for the internal organs such as tooth, periodontal structures, oral mucosal, and tongue, chin area of maxillary bone and Mandibular bone, and the facial area related to maxillary/lower jawbone. Since its first medical treatment in 1971, Kyung Hee Medical Centers Department of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery has been providing medical service temporomandibular clinic, maxillofacial defarmity clinic, implant clinic, maxillofacial cancer clinic, maxillofacial trauma, tooth extraction, speed orthodontics, bone distraction surgery, and maxillofacial infection. At Kyung Hee Medical Centers Department of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery, 3 professors, 2 clinical lecturers and 11 residents are providing medical service and conducting research on their respective areas with the pride of being the leaders in maxillofacial surgery. Also, the number of admission patients and outpatients recorded 3,500 and 27,000, respectively, both of which are continuously increasing.


Department of Conservative dentistry

Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology    

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology is a full-service imaging facility specializing in assessing conditions of the head and neck region. The department provides other department and dental professionals with a higher level of diagnistic information to formulate complex treatment plans as well as guide postoperative care. In addition to providing exceptional patient care, the department provides excellent learning opportunities for dental and graduate students as well as the school's continuing education programs.

Procedures and/or consultation offerd include :
- Routine digital radiography of teeth facial bones
- Tempormandibular joint imaging, including arthrography and cone beam CT
- Paranasal sinus evaluation
- Sialography
- Pre-and post-surgical dental implant evalutions using cone beam CT
- Advice for digital imaging for private dental offices
- Dictated reports for all studies


Department of Prosthodontics

Dental prosthodontics is a medical area that recovers the lost masticatory function or aesthetics of the patients by treating the lost or damaged tooth and surrounding tissue with artificial material(replacement). Major reasons of lost teeth are periodontal disease, caries or external damage by an accident. Each patient has a different reason for lost tooth and different level of damage. Consequently, the patients are provided with appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan and receive various treatments according to the patient status. Most common treatments include gold crown, ceramic crown or artificial tooth, partial denture, full denture, artificial tooth transplant(implant), maxillofacial prosthodontics and temporomandibular joint treatment. The patients are guided with treatment method and period according to their status, through professional counseling.


Department of Pediatric Dentistry    

The Department of Pediatric Dentistry strives for the promotion of the dental health of children and adolescents by operating special clinic for the disables as well as dental treatments including caries prevention and restorative treatment for children and adolescents, treatment of damaged tooth, margin maintenance and orthodontic treatment in relation to growth and physical development.


Department of Periodontology

Department of Periodontology specializes in periodontal disease, gingival plastic surgery, and implant. Since its establishment upon the opening of affiliated hospital of Kyung Hee University of Dentistry, the department has been striving for treatment and prevention of periodontal diseases and putting utmost effort for the satisfaction of the patients with implant treatment and other various treatments using the latest laser. Along with clinical treatment, Department of Periodontology is actively engaged in research that will be the foundation of the clinical treatment as the leader of Korean Academy of Periodontology. The department is focusing its study on the impact of surface roughness of implant on osseointegration, variation of osseointegration by implant surface treatment, impact of the number of drill holes in mesh type titanium film on osseointegration during guided bone regeneration, comparison of the growth of calvarium cells cultivated in absorptive blackout curtain, connection between the shape of the palate, tooth and the thickness of palate masticatory mucosa, and impact of autogenous bone graft during sinus lift procedure.

At present, 3 professors, 1clinical lecturer, and 7 residents are giving their best in medical treatment and research for the health of the patients.
