The Seoul National University Dental Hospital provides International Dental Care Service (IDS) for foreign residents in Korea.We have dental hygienists who are dedicated to help foreign patients, not only with communication, but also with counseling, making an appointment, treatment and payment throughout the process to make it a convenient experience for the patients.

Department Oral Medicine

Department of Oral Medicine provides diagnoses and treatments for temporomandibular disorders, nocturnal bruxism, pain disorders in the orofacial area, oral mucosal and tongue diseases, salivary gland disorders, xerostomia, halitosis, and snoring and sleep apnea, as well as various types of forensic data, including estimations of age.

The department also diagnoses new patients, and makes treatment plans so they can be cared for more efficiently. The department operates Temporomandibular Joint and Orofacial Pain Clinic, Halitosis Clinic, Snoring and Sleep Apnea Clinic, and Smoking Cessation Clinic.

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology was the first in Korea to utilize the picture archiving and communications system (PACS) for diagnoses.

The department use cutting-edge technologies to provide diagnoses for a wide range of diseases and s problems of the mouth, jaw, face, and salivary gland, including dental caries, periodontal diseases, malocclusions, tumors, salivary gland diseases, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. In order to offer its customers the best treatment possible, it deploys a full spectrum of imaging modalities, including periapical, panoramic, TMJ, and cephalometic radiographs, as well as CT, MRI, PET, and ultrasonograph and salivary gland imaging, while fully collaborating with other departments.

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is tasked with the surgical treatment of oral, maxillofacial, and craniofacial diseases and disorders. It performs a wide array of minor and major operations involving the mouth, facial deformities, and maxillofacial parts. Equipped with eleven operating rooms, 40 beds, and an ICU room, the department efficiently manages outpatients and inpatients, treats seriouscases, and performs a full range of surgical procedures. It also participates in patienttreatments at the Dental Implant Center and the Maxillofacial Deformity Clinic,and runs special clinics for corrective and cosmetic jaw surgery, aesthetic facialsurgery, and maxillofacial reconstruction.

Department of Periodontic

Department of Periodontics provides diagnosis and treatment for inflammatory diseases such as Gingivitis and Periodontitis as well as aesthetic problems caused by drug induced gingival enlargements, gingival pigmentation and gingival recession.

The mission of the Department of Periodontics is to provide excellence and innovation in education, patient care and scientific discovery in the field of Periodontics.

Patients admitted to our department are subject to a comprehensive periodontal treatment that involve non-surgical, surgical periodontal treatment and placement of dental implants. Also, our advanced preventive and maintenance programs which includes treatment of peri-implant diseases are designed to support patients keep their natural teeth and dental implants in a healthy and long-term perspective.

Department of Conservative Dentistry

Department of Conservative Dentistry is tasked with the treatment of damaged teeth through the restoration of damaged dental hard tissues and endodontic treatment of lesions around the pulp and the root apex. Other treatment that help teeth recover their masticatory, phonological, and aesthetic functions include bleaching, correcting damaged teeth or teeth with abnormal sizes and shapes, and tooth transplants.

Department of Prosthodontics

Department of Prosthodontics aims the improvement and replacement of teeth and oromaxillofacial structures. In our department, we improve the structural integrity of weakened teeth caused by serious dental caries or endodontic treatment, and restore the discolored or malformed teeth, by covering them with artificial tooth structure made by gold or porcelain. Also, when the natural teeth have been lost due to congenital or acquired causes, we can restore the masticatory function, phonetics, and esthetics by replacing them with artificial teeth units such as fixed bridges, partial or complete dentures, or implants. Besides teeth, we provide prosthetic solutions for functional and esthetic problems of mouth and face which can be caused by oromaxillofacial surgery or cancer surgery.

Department of Orthodontics

Department of Orthodontics provides orthodontic and orthopedic treatments to improve the facial aesthetics and restore masticatory functions. In addition, it carries out combined orthodontic/surgical treatments for maxillofacial deformities, such as facial asymmetry, protrusive and short chins, and craniofacial anomalies, including cleft lips and palates. The department also deploys deploy a wide range of diagnostic systems, including 3D facial analyses, tooth model analyses, and results predictions through computer simulations, to obtain accurate diagnoses of the causes of malocclusion and obtain optimal results so that patients can regain their beautiful smiles and build their self-confidence. It also contributes to developments within its field through basic studies, collaboration with other departments, and cooperative research.

Department of Oral Pathology

Department of Oral Pathology provides final diagnoses of oral and maxillofacial diseases through histopathologic examinations, immunohistochemical staining, electron microscopy, and molecular diagnostics, so that clinicians can give a proper treatment for their patients. Our department also contributes to the development of dentistry by applying knowledge that we have obtained from the diagnostic process to dental education and research.

Department of Dental Anesthesiology

Department of Dental Anesthesiology provides general anesthesia and sedation in order to control pain and anxiety in patients who are undergoing oral and maxillofacial surgery. Other responsibilities include outpatient anesthesia for pediatric dentistry and differently challenged dental patients, and the management of serious cases and emergencies. In addition, it offers pain management for safer and more comfortable dental treatments, such as patient-controlled analgesia that enables patients to control their pain by themselves after surgery.
